Be a disciple. Disciple others. It all starts here.

When I turned 50, I had an epiphany.  I had always been big on setting goals and planning my next big thing.  Then at age 50, it occurred to me that I might only have about 25 or 30 years left to do whatever needed to be done.  Maybe less.

I suppose I’m not the only one to have such ideas.  Hence, we now have the famous bucket lists that many of my friends are creating.  Would it surprise you to find out that most of those lists are filled up with exotic places to visit (I certainly want to get to Eastern Europe and Australia).   The lists might include a new place to live, a certain car to own, or achieving some level of expertise in a sport or game.  My conversations with others on the subject commonly come around to amassing some amount of net worth that will allow for a certain standard of living.

I’m going to venture an idea, here.  I’ll bet not many of those lists include “doing whatever God calls me to do.”  Can you imagine what the rest of your life might look like if you made that decision today?  Whether you are 18, 30, or ancient of days like me, you could change the world in the days you have left.

Are you too busy?  Are you worried about not having enough money to live on?  Do you think you don’t have needed skills?  Are you lacking an idea of what to do?  Does it seem too big?  Will you miss your TV too much?  Are you afraid your family and friends will think you’re weird?   If you answered yes to any of those questions, then you worship a different Jesus than the one Paul, John, Matthew, Mark, James, Luke, Peter, and Jude talk about.

I’m not a special person.  I’m a layman like most of you.  I’ve prospered in life, but 5 years ago I lost almost everything and had to start over at 60.  I have some talents and skills, but so do you.  I lack a whole lot of talent and skill in areas I think I’d love to be more accomplished, just like you.

The one thing I do know is this.  If only one out of every 100 people that love Jesus in the US would make a decision today to “do whatever God calls me to do” for the rest of their lives, this country and the world would not know what hit them.  Are you going to sit by and let someone else be that “one” who will get all the fun, all the amazing best that God has to offer you while here on earth and then in heaven?

Let me be very, very clear.  To take up God’s call requires a lot of hard work and determination.  But remarkably, if it really is God’s call, and you respond with the right heart, the yoke will seem light as a feather.

Seniors.  You can choose to kick back and start counting the sunsets.  You deserve it.  You’ve worked hard, and now it is someone else’s turn.

Or maybe you’re a young go-getter and you want to have treasures and fame here on earth.   You might be promising God that you’ll use your money and fame to further the Kingdom later.  I can identify with that very easily.

Possibly, you have been badly wounded by life, and you’re struggling to put one foot in front of the other, and you’ll think about how God can use you later.

Others think: “I’ll do it when the kids are grown and through college.  I’ll surrender to God’s call on my life when I have $500,000 in net assets.”

How do I know you think that way?  Easy.  I’ve thought those exact thoughts.  We need a revival in the US, and throughout this world of ours.  The ability to communicate the Gospel to every person on earth has never been easier.  The world has never been more ready to hear the message.  And unless you are missing the news, we are certainly in the last days.  There isn’t a lot of time left to make sure your loved ones and those in your community get saved.

If you are ready to go all in, and avoid any potential of being seen as lukewarm, this book is the outpouring of my heart intended to provide you with a pathway to victory.

An outline of a possible path would look like this.  Each step is based on a decision.  Just like your initial decision to follow Jesus, you will be making decisions throughout your walk.     See the rest of the intro and the book ----

Now it has come time to make a huge decision.  It might cost you $2.99 more or less.  It will take you about 3 - 4 hours to read.  It should change your life, just as it has already changed the lives of others you can read about below.

The introduction and almost all of the first draft of the book was on this blog for most of a year.  1000's read it for free.  You see, the goal of this book is to make disciples, not money.  I'm a tent maker (marketing consultant), and whether or not this book makes or loses money is of no consequence.  What matters is folks like you and your Christian brothers and sisters reading it and acting on it.

Check out some of the early reviews:

“I started attending church again after reading God Called  JS

“I read the first few chapters of God Called but couldn’t go on.  Too convicting” TB

“After reading half of God Called, I started making big changes.” CC

Even as a Pastor sometimes we can lose focus on what it really is to be a
true disciple of Christ.

I would recommend it to any Pastor or leader of a church
Great Stuff!

Robert Hill - Administrative Pastor
Core Church Los Angeles

Are you far from God right now, maybe even a prodigal?  Maybe your doing okay, but you know you could be doing so much more.  Maybe you just aren't sure how to get all that God has to offer you.  Or maybe you are like Robert Hill, you are a pastor, but need to be reminded, too.

Here are some other reader's comments:

When asked to read a copy of God Called I readily agreed, but was duly surprised at the impact the contents had on my own thinking and life. Being in an active ministry with my husband, I know what sacrifice and hard work means, and thought I knew what giving all to Christ meant. Yet I was convicted by the words that proved to me: to be a true disciple of Christ, one must be perfectly willing to do God’s will, to accept humbleness as part of their life and to choose to live this way with no strings attached. God’s will is my will.

I sincerely encourage all Christians to read and act on Kirk’s book, God Called—He Needs Your Decision! Well, done, Mr. Kirk. You’ve given readers a powerful book.

Carole Brown author The Redemption of Caralynne Hayman

God did not call a specific group of people to discipleship - the young, the mature, the outgoing.  He called all of us to become disciples, disciplined ones, ready to listen and follow where He leads. My first reaction when I hear this  message is to duck my head in condemnation, knowing I am not living up to this commandment. However, in his new book, God Called—He Needs Your Decision!, author Randy Kirk immediately moves toward the positive possibilities that can lead to major advances in our lives and purpose.

Just reading the first few pages, God spoke a quick word to me, setting me free from years of bondage to what people will think of me if I follow Jesus full out. Using Randy's simple steps of faith, this is a must-read for your next step in growing in grace.

Cheryl Colwell   author  The Secrets of Montebellis and The Proof

The Psalmist tells us that deep calls unto deep . . . Take the plunge into
the River of Life with Randy Kirk's newest book, God Called—He Needs Your Decision! and drink deep from the well that never runs dry.  Find keys to intimacy with Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit hidden in plain sight.  Come away refreshed and longing for more of Him.

Are you hungering for a closer walk with God? Do you realize that you need something more than what you have in your spiritual life? Then God Called by Randy Kirk is the book for you to read.

From the first chapter this book caught my attention. Filled with nuggets of wisdom and the instructions and encouragement to step out in faith for a fuller walk with God, this book carefully points out what it takes to go a little further in your daily life: to become a true disciple of Christ. Easy? Not at all. But for a very real sense of satisfaction in knowing you’re doing what you’re suppose to do at the right time in your life, becoming a disciple of Christ will give you a peace and fulfillment from a choice and decision that you must make. Excuses abound plentifully, no matter what age you are, to prevent one from praying the prayer of discipleship, and yet it all depends on your desire and willingness: are you willing to become humble and forsake all to follow Christ?

Kirk’s scriptures drive home his points and his knowledge in the topic is outstanding. His examples and quotes and expounding pinpoints the problems individuals have, the cost many will have, and the solutions to a life of happiness.

I heartily recommend this book for all serious Christians!
